Granthara About

About Granthara

Last updated 8 September 2026

Granthara is a library. The first book open on its shelves teaches the Indian stock market, from the beginning, to people who have never owned a share.

Why it exists

Most free material on the Indian market is either a tips channel or a wall of text. The tips are worthless and the text goes unread. Granthara takes the third route: one continuous story, in plain English and in rupees, where every idea is something you can drag, sort or count rather than something you are asked to believe.

There is one running world. Rahul opens a snack shop in Bengaluru and needs ₹50 lakh. You buy ten shares of Bharat Foods Ltd. Those two facts are established in the first lesson, and every later lesson builds on them, so you are never introduced to a new cast just to explain a new idea.

How it is written

Each lesson moves in four steps: Learn in plain text, See it as something interactive, Try it as a question that answers back, and Remember as one line worth keeping. Every visual is coded, not stock photography. There are no candlestick decorations, no bull and bear imagery, and no streaks, badges or leaderboards.

The curriculum is a fixed map of 29 parts and 722 topics, sequenced so that nothing depends on something you have not read yet. Lessons are published in that order.

Who writes it

Granthara is written and built by Sarath. It is not a company, not a broker and not a research house, and it sells nothing. Nobody pays for a mention, because there are no mentions to buy: no lesson names a stock to buy or sell.

What it will never do

Granthara is descriptive, never prescriptive. It explains how the market works and leaves every decision to you. It is not a SEBI-registered adviser and does not want to be — the disclaimer sets out the full boundary.

Common questions

Is Granthara free?

Yes. Every lesson is free to read, with no account, no sign-up and no paywall. There is no paid tier planned.

Do I need a demat account to start?

No. The lessons explain what a demat account is and what it does long before you would need one. You can read the whole of Part 01 without opening an account anywhere.

Does Granthara recommend stocks?

No, and it never will. Granthara is education, not advice. It explains how prices, orders and companies work, and stops there. Every company named in a lesson is illustrative and fictional.

Is my progress saved?

Your reading position, the lessons you have finished and your answers are stored in your own browser, on that device. Nothing is sent anywhere. Switch devices or clear your browser data and the progress is gone, because there is no account holding it.

How often are new lessons published?

In the fixed order of the curriculum, as they are written. There is no schedule and no newsletter. The library page shows what is open and what is still to come.

Who is Granthara for?

Complete beginners in India, reading mostly on a phone. If you already trade, most of Part 01 will be familiar.
